Nollywood has been thrown into deep mourning following the tragic death of popular comic actor Odira Nwobu, who has reportedly passed away in South Africa.
According to reports confirmed by movie director Arthur Scott in an exclusive conversation with Legit.ng, Odira died after battling high blood pressure (HBP). The news was first shared by actor and producer Stanley Ontop, who revealed he received an early-morning call informing him of the heartbreaking loss.
Stanley Ontop explained that Odira had gone out for a night outing but sadly passed away the following morning. He added that the actor had been managing blood-pressure issues for some time.

The news came as a shock to fans, especially since Odira survived a near-fatal car accident a few months ago along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway — an incident that left many praying for his recovery.
Tributes have since poured in across social media, with fans expressing disbelief and sorrow over his sudden passing. Many questioned how someone who recently posted on social media could be gone so soon. Others expressed concern for his mother and family, who must now cope with the devastating news.

Director Arthur Scott confirmed:“The report is true. I lost a friend. He had blood pressure issues, and that might have been the cause.”
Odira Nwobu will be remembered for his comedic brilliance, unique delivery, and contribution to Nollywood’s storytelling.
May his soul rest in peace.
